Winter School
THE LFIT WINTER SCHOOL IN POLITICAL COMMUNICATION
With the growing importance of mass media in Western societies, political communication has acquired a key role in politics. The interaction between media and political systems, for instance, is pivotal for a successful electoral campaign and in many cases influences political decisions.
Yet centre-left parties, particularly in Italy, have often been criticized because of the lack of a clear, articulate and, first and foremost, media-friendly political message to appeal potential voters. The Labour Party is, in this respect, one of the few exceptions, as it has made significant investments in the development of communication techniques, namely under Tony Blair’s leadership.
The LFIT Winter School in Political Communication aims at providing members of the Partito Democratico with an opportunity to develop specific communication skills and strategies. Taking advantage of the Labour Party’s practice in the field, the project is essentially aimed at helping participants to develop their political message and better frame the political debate.
The first edition of the Winter School is expected to take place in February 2012. Further information will be available from December 2010.
